In collaboration with Friends of Deckers Creek (FODC) and Eddie Spaghetti Art, The Ferry House is creating a “Crankie” telling the history and journey of Deckers Creek and FODC influence in working to clean up the creek. A Crankie is an old storytelling art form. Start with a long illustrated scroll that is wound onto two spools. The spools are loaded into a box which has a viewing window. The scroll is then hand-cranked while the story is told, a song is sung or a tune is played.
Come help in the creation of the FODC Crankie. The creative gathering will be held at The Ferry House on Sunday, January 18 from 1-3 pm.
You will continue working on the project by creating with watercolors to add color to the Crankie.
The Crankie performance will take place Friday, February 20 at the Arthurdale Heritage Center with the Friends of Deckers Creek.
