SOJA Tour To Visit Greater Morgantown

DC-Area Band Will Perform Hits From Their Latest Album

West Virginia University Arts & Entertainment announced that SOJA will preform at the Historic Metropolitan Theatre on Wednesday, October 7, at 8 p.m.

SOJA is a Washington, D.C.-area band who blend reggae, go-go, D.C. hardcore, Latin, rock and hip-hop. The band consists of eight members who have been friends since middle school. Lead singer Jacob Hemphill says, “I want to speak for people who don’t have microphones, our goal as a band is to stick up for the human race. We see the world and we try to make it better in the limited time we have here.”

They have toured with the likes of Dave Matthews Band, Incubus, 311 and have appeared at major festivals including Bonnaroo. This past July, SOJA performed at the All Good Music Festival in Summit Point, W.Va. The band has sold over 200,000 albums, headlined shows in over 20 countries, generated 4 million Facebook fans and over 120 million YouTube views.

SOJA has recently released their fifth full-length album, “Amid the Noise and Haste.” Their music is a means of helping people relate in a more affirmative way, asking people to look inside themselves and ask what they want to do with their life and how they can be happy. Hemphill says, “The point of the album is reconnecting people to the power inside themselves, getting them to fall back in love with life again. Look around, take a deep breath. All the answers are there.”

Thomas is making a name for himself with his unique beatbox/soulfolk sound. He is currently touring globally as a solo artist and in collaboration with Nahko and Medicine for the People.
