West Virginia University Graduation Weekend Activities
What to see and do with your family during WVU graduation weekend
West Virginia University graduates – congratulations on your accomplishments! While your family is in town for commencement weekend, May 12-14, make sure to take advantage of your remaining time in the city and visit all of Mountaineer Country’s signature sights! Bond with your loved ones while sharing classic “college” experiences with them.
Moments to Share with Family
Walk down High Street: Morgantown’s High Street offers a variety of shops, restaurants, and theatres. Take a sidewalk stroll to explore all of the Morgantown history located on this street, and maybe stop for a bite to eat or a gift for your grad!
Visit Mountaineer Field at Milan Puskar Stadium! This stadium seats 60,000 fans and is the home of WVU Mountaineer Football. Memories of singing Country Roads will fill your heart as you walk past the front gates. Teach your family some game-day chants as you visit this Morgantown landmark!
Enjoy a bite at a local restaurant, partake in an activity, or shop for some WVU memorabilia with our Mountaineer Deals while you’re here. For instance, throw an axe at Mountain Man Axe Throwing or paint pottery at The WOW! Factory! If you’re up for a little shopping, head to Downtown Morgantown, as well as Suncrest Towne Centre or University Town Centre.
Take in the culture of the Art Museum of WVU: Showcasing numerous exhibits, sculptures, ceramics, and paintings, this free museum is a wonderful way to explore the arts during graduation weekend. The pieces throughout the museum will provide a fun experience for the art-loving family. The Art Museum is open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 12:30 to 6:00 p.m. Admission is free but advanced tickets are required.
Get lunch at Mario’s Fishbowl: Voted one of WV’s 101 Unique Places to Dine, this historic Morgantown restaurant is best known for their chicken wings, sandwiches, and cold fishbowl beers. Looking for a place to bring the family for lunch or dinner? Mario’s offers both a downtown and Evansdale location for your family to enjoy!
