Whether you’re looking for family fun, a company outing, or a night on the town with friends, Mountaineer Country is the perfect place to plan your group events. From life to work, there are so many ways to grow as a team and become stronger together. These outings are a way for your team to step out of your comfort zone and into exciting and sometimes challenging activities.

With the snow starting to fall soon, we put together a list of all of the group outings that make for the perfect team-building experience this holiday season!

Pottery Painting at The WOW! Factory

The WOW! Factory is Morgantown’s premier art studio. Rent one of their event spaces, and get creative together. Choose from pottery painting, glass fusing, clay hand-building, mosaics, canvas painting, or board art.

Wine Tasting at Sargasso

Sargasso provides a unique experience with amazing wines and locally sourced food. They offer a flight of (typically three) wines exploring select origins, lesser-known boutique wines, top vintages, winemaking techniques, and regions of the world.

Brain Puzzles at the Morgantown Escape Room

An escape room experience that is interactive collaboration at its best! Great for corporate team building, problem-solving, and communication, the Morgantown Escape Room is the perfect way for your group to discover the skills needed for shared success.

Himalayan Salt Spa and Cave

The Himalayan Salt Spa Cave offers a 45-minute calming session in their salt cave. You will relax in a comfortable, zero-gravity chair, listening to soothing sounds of music and breathing the mineral-saturated salt air. The room is kept near 75 degrees Fahrenheit and clean blankets are provided for each session.

Mountain Man Axe Throwing or Smash Room

Go to Mountain Man Axe Throwing for a unique group outing and to be coached by some of the world’s best axe throwers! Over the years, they’ve evolved from just axe throwing to also include a Smash Room and a Black Light Paint Room.  Due to the popularity of their activities, walk-ins are welcome, but reservations are highly recommended.  Call 681-209-7501 or text 681-209-7161 to book an outing with your date, friends and family, a party, or for a corporate event. 

Nonno Carlo Cooking Lesson

Learn how to make pizza like a professional at one of the Nonno Carlo pizza courses or group cooking sessions. They offer two-hour courses that walk you through all of the aspects of traditional Italian pizza making, including a mozzarella stretching demonstration! Plus, enjoy an olive-oil tasting to close the event.

Line Dancing at Arthurdale Heritage

Put on your dancing shoes and get ready to groove! Set up a private event with Arthurdale Heritage to learn all about how to line and folk dance. This is a class they offer, but if you call and inquire about a private event, they’ll work with you to figure out the best event to fit all of your needs. 

Tea Party at the Tea Shoppe

Throw a tea party and enjoy tea flights, coffee, mimosas, or any of their delicious food selections. All special events hosted at The Tea Shoppe are allotted a two-hour time slot. They have two tea rooms available, their Main Dining Room seats up to 55 guests, and their newly expanded and renovated Event Dining room now seats up to 26 guests.

Event at Apothecary & Ale House

Apothecary’s new space offers fireside outdoor views with string lights and a unique setting. They offer one of the largest craft-beer selections and amazing menu options. Set up an event where you can try beer flights, or just sip and hang out while you try their sandwiches and well-loved pretzels.

Wine Tasting at Forks of Cheat Winery

Featuring an outdoor pavilion with stunning views and indoor event space, Forks of Cheat Winery and Distillery is the perfect place to spend your group outing. Tour the facility, mingle over food, and taste locally sourced wines in a unique venue.

Build a Charcuterie Board with Baker Cheese Co.

All the cheese, charcuterie, and accompaniments are provided, as well as boards and utensils for each participant. At each Baker Cheese Co. event, your team will learn how to cut and style the cheese and how to fold and present the charcuterie. Each participant can make their own board to enjoy at the end or take home and enjoy later!

Ziplining Canopy Tour

This seasonal activity is perfect for any group who loves a little adventure. The Adventure WV Zip-Line Canopy Tour is comprised of 4 zip lines, 7 tree-based platforms, an aerial bridge, and a tandem rappel station to exit the course. The entire course runs throughout the northern section of Coopers Rock State Forest, otherwise known as the WVU Research Forest. Groups are encouraged to explore the surrounding area and participate in other WVU Outdoor Education Center activities after they finish.

Reservations open up each year in the spring and continue through the summer months before closing up for winter. Private tours are available outside of normal tour schedules but must be arranged with Zip-Line staff members prior to arrival.

Zenclay Pottery Studio

Take part in a private pottery class with Zenclay where you receive a few pounds of porcelain and plenty of hands-on help in learning to make whatever your group desires.

Suburban Lanes

Suburban Lanes is a 24-lane bowling center is attached to Keglers and offers fun competition for groups. You can reach out about renting the space for a few hours, or just stop in for dinner and bowling.

Group Fitness Class at Mylan Park

Mylan Park offers unique group fitness classes that are a perfect team-bonding experience. Raise your heart rate with T’ai Chi or a water fitness class, or relax as you enjoy restorative yoga with the yoga warrior! Whether dry or in-water fitness, Mylan Park has plenty of activities to get your body moving!
