Newburg Miners Memorial

Newburg was the site of the first deep mine disaster in the state of West Virginia. In 1886, an explosion took the lives of 39 men/boys in Orrel Mines Mountain Brook location in Newburg. On Tuesday, January 21 at 2:30 pm we will commemorate that tragic accident. Everyone is encouraged to attend a brief ceremony recognizing that day and remembering those miners.
